  • The Jetsons vs Salt n Pepa

So, my girlfriend was watching Jetsons: The Movie today and at the end of the movie, they had a sweet early 90′s Jetsons’ rap.  Only problem is that it sounds like they totally ripped off Push It by Salt n Pepa.

    Judge for yourself.

    Jetsons’ Rap

Push It (skip to about 1:20 for the parts that are most similar)

So first off, they both are around the same BPM.  That really doesn’t mean much, but they also have the same cowbell-type instrument thing going on along with the simple beat.  On top of that, the main synth line in the Jetsons one is really really similar to Push It.  You can actually hum the main synth from Push It over the Jetsons’ Rap and it will sound totally normal.

Some elements can be attributed to the early 90′s, but there are just way too many similarities to be a coincidence.

  • I Write Music Sometimes

I felt like writing music today and this is what came out.  It’s just the beginning of a potential song.  Hopefully one day it will evolve into a full song.

I usually never post my unfinished music online because I always feel like someone will steal it.  Well, if that happens with this one, then I’ll know not to ever post it online again =P

  • Prodigy

I went to see Prodigy last night here in NYC and it was totally insane!  I’ve never seen that many people going crazy to music ever in my life.  They had the craziest lights going on on stage too.  I just wish they could have played more songs, but I don’t know if my body could have taken it.

I’m still totally exhausted from the show and, even after sleeping in, I’m still kinda out of it.

It was raining all night, which was kinda lame because we had to stand outside in line for about an hour.  All I hope is that I don’t get a cold or something.  I should be fine though, I already got my cold a month or so ago.

All my thoughts are coming out fragmented right now =P

In front of me, this guy took off his shirt and bounced around a ton, thus covering my arms in his sweat.  I really hate when people do that.

I think I really have to see Prodigy again the next time they are around.  Luckily, since it’s NYC, it’s definitely possible.

Off to take a shower and finally head into the office to do some Xanga programming =)

  • Meshuggah!

I see Meshuggah in two days and I’m pretty excited.  I saw them a couple months back, but they weren’t the headliner, so they didn’t play very long.  Funny part was that after they finished, about half of the venue left =P

This next show actually sold out, which is surprising because I swear bands don’t sell out venues anymore, unless it’s Britney Spears or something.

  • Guilt-Free Gaming?

I’ve been having trouble justifying why I should play video games these past couple months.  They sure are fun to play and there are so many that are good, but it’s starting to feel like a waste of time.

When I play a video game now, I am thinking about all the other things that I should/could be doing that would be a better use of my time.  I could sit there and play a game for three hours or I could do something more productive with that time, such as work on my website, draw up some cartoons or finish up something else that I needed to do.  I feel too guilty playing video games that I can’t really do it anymore, and that’s sad =(

Hopefully one day, that guilt will go away and I can finally sit down and play a game without worrying about what I’m not doing.

  • Design and Css

I think I’ve kinda gotten the hang of CSS for the most part.  I’m by no means an expert, but I can put things on a page and make it look like it should.  Only problem is that I have a really hard time designing what a page should look like.

If someone handed me some kind of image for a website and said “make it look like that”, I’m pretty sure I could do it.  However, I can’t seem to come up with those designs.  I can point at sites I like and sites that I don’t like design-wise, but I just can’t bring all those thoughts together very easily in my own designs.  For example, I think I like rounded corners, but then when I try to do it, it just doesn’t look right.

I have such trouble with color pallates though.  I can never figure out which colors look best for certain parts of the page.  If everyone were colorblind, then all I would ever have to worry about is what shade of grey to use.  But no, instead I have to choose colors from a seemingly infinite number of choices =P

http://www.colourlovers.com/ does help me out with that a little bit though.

  • I opened up this editor, but a blog didn’t come out.  Hopefully I’ll have better luck next time.

  • Facebook Status Message

It bothers me when people on facebook totally ignore the structure of their status message.  It’s always “YOUR NAME is ” and then you fill in the rest.  But some people just type whatever they want there.  And by some people, I’m referring to this one friend I have.

“YOUR NAME is my car won’t start”
    or
“YOUR NAME is why can’t i find my shoes”

And you can delete the is, so those sentence could have just as easily been.

“YOUR NAME can’t start his/her car”
    or
“YOUR NAME can’t find his/her car”

    It hurts.
