  • Final Fantasy VII had awesome music.  Just wanted to get that out there.  Is it sad that I listen to video game music sometimes when I’m programming here?  Is it also sad that I wish I had my Megaman 2 music with me so I could listen to that as well?

    The answer is yes.

  • Food poisoning has been reclassified as severe flu due to newly surfaced information.

In related news, I’m better =)  My girlfriend is still getting over it, so feel better babe!

  • Webcomic!

My friend and I have just started up a fun little webcomic site.  Go check it out!  LeftHandedToons
The site will be updated regularly, so keep an eye on it!  ( if you want to of course =P )

Here’s the blurb from the site about what it is:

“Wouldn’t it be fun to draw a whole bunch of cartoons using your
non-dominant hand? Yes? That’s exactly what we thought. With Drew
possessing actual artistic ability and Justin possessing not much more
artistic talent than a kid in second grade, both have joined forces to
bring everyone random little toons… all done lefty style!”

    Enjoy!

  • So many games, so little time

My list of games to play keeps on getting bigger and bigger.  What doesn’t help is that I also have a problem with finishing the games that I start.  I usually get distracted about half way through the game with some other game and never return to the original.

    In Progress:
    Zelda: Twilight Princess
    Trauma Center: Second Opinion
    Final Fantasy IX

    Need to Start Playing Again:
    Final Fantasy XII
    Metal Gear Solid 3
    Loco Roco
    Resident Evil 4
Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops (on hold until completion of FF IX )

    Want to Play:
    Pikmin 2
    Final Fantasy VIII
    Jak II

…thats a lot of games.  There are probably more that I’m forgetting, but adding to that list may make me seem like an even bigger dork, so I’ll just leave it at that.

  • I am writing this from my wii using the Opera browser. Pretty cool stuff I must say. Typing using the onscreen keyboard is surprisingly fun, but only for a couple minutes until the tediousness sets in…

…looks like my couple minutes are up.

  • For a couple minutes every day, the sun joins me in the Xanga office.  It’s really not as hot as they all say.

The sun reflects off of a window from across the street and right into my peripheral vision.  While taking this picture, I looked a little too long at the sun and now have the ‘looked too long at the sun’ spots when I look around.

As I finish this, the sun has already moved on to shine in someone else’s eyes in another building somewhere.  Goodbye sun, see you tomorrow.  Same time, same place.

  • 8 Ball

So the only rule to racking the balls for offical 8 ball is to have the 8 ball in the center and have a solid in one back corner of the triangle and a stripe in the other.  I can’t say I knew that

And just in case you were wondering, you don’t lose if you scratch on the 8 ball attempt and the 8 ball doesn’t go in.

  • That one guy

This goes out to the singing homeless man that lives in the area where I live.  He doesn’t ask for money and doesn’t try to start conversations; all he does is sing.  And shake his arms in front of him.  If you remember the Simpsons episode with the crazy old man dancers, its like that.  Just that this man luckily does keep his pants on.

He sang me some Christmas songs once, which would seem seasonal, except that it was about 3 months ago.  Now I see him at least once a week in my subway station next to the man handing out the Metro newspaper.

He doesn’t ask for money or have anything to collect the money, so I assume he’s just a theatrical type of person just doing it to perform.  What a trooper.  Maybe one day some talent scout will find him and put him in a movie.  He will be forever typecast as the crazy homeless guy in all his movies, but he can sure sell the part.  Next time I see him, I’ll tell him that if he just keeps working at it, he will be discovered.  He will then look at me and give everyone the best performance of ‘Silent Night’ the world has ever seen… Or he will just give me a confused look and continue singing whatever pops into his head at that moment.

I believe I digressed at some point, so I come back to my original point: Mr. Singing Homeless man, keep on rocking, but try not to make me feel awkward.

  • I just attended the World Series of Video Games Quake 4 finals over here in NYC at Chelsea Piers.  I must say, it was quite the match up.  The spokesperson of professional gaming, Fatal1ty, was having a fantastic day.  He lost in the upper bracket, but won out in the lower bracket to play again for first.  The only catch was that because it was double elimination, he had to beat the top player, Toxic, in two rounds of best of three.

Toxic is usually untouchable, but holy crap, Fatal1ty really brought his best game.  He whooped Toxic in the first round two and out.  4-3 in the first map and 28-18 in the second.  The craziest thing about this is Toxic never loses like that.  Actually, he generally never loses.

First match of the second round went to Toxic 29-6 in true Toxic style, but Fatal1ty took the second match 18-16 in OT.  Third round was the return of Toxic to his usual style and he took it pretty easily with 30-5.

Overall, it was quite awesome.  If you don’t follow Quake 4 gaming or gaming in general, I apologize for this entry =P  The biggest shame of it all was I was really sick and the finals ran long, so by the end of it, I was suffering.  Blah.  But I’m getting better now, so that’s always good.

And on another note, I watched Toxic set up his controls for Quake 4.  His move forward is mouse 1 and back is mouse 2.  Ridiculous!  Fire was ‘c’ and all of the weapons were the keys in that general area.  I didn’t catch what his strafes were, but forward and backward with the mouse?  Pure crazy talk.
