  • Movies

Remember when the first Matrix movie came out?  It’s one of those movies where I wish I could see it again for the first time.  Since then though, at least for me, movies are getting less and less innovative and unique.

These days, studios keep pumping out sequels and movies based off of books, comics, graphic novels, video games, real world events, tv shows and wherever else they feel like.  Not to say that all of these movies are bad just because they aren’t original, I just wish there were more unique ideas out there.

There have been a couple movies that I would have liked to have seen, but due to movie ticket prices, it can be hard to make it over to the theater and spend 12 bucks on a ticket (NYC prices).  If tickets were cheap again, I definitely would be at the theater checking out those little movies that look interesting to me.  Just because a movie didn’t have a 200 million dollar budget doesn’t mean it’s guaranteed to be any less entertaining that one that did.  But with these high ticket prices, we all kinda want a movie that’s worth our money.  And that’s where all the blockbuster sequels come in.  They almost become movies that you have to see because everyone else is going to see it too.

Oh how I wish it was the 90′s again =P

  • Birds

There is a big bridge I have to walk under which is between my apartment and the subway.  The birds like this bridge and also enjoying pooping a whole lot onto the sidewalk underneath it.  Everytime I walk under this bridge, I just know that one day will be my unlucky day and I’ll get pooped on.  That day was almost today.

The bird in question let one go right as I passed underneath him/her.  I heard a splat sound on the shoulder of my jacket and thought it was just water dripping from the bridge.  But no, it was some spiteful bird trying to crap on me (or something like that).  If I was walking an inch or so to the left, that bird crap would have been right on my head.

Close call, but now they may have a hit out on me because of today’s failure.  Man, getting crapped on by dozens of birds would be a real bad way to start off the day.

  • Keeping on my pattern of ad images that I see, here is another one.

Apparently if I vote in this survey, I can get the PS3 with a controller that doesn’t exist.  Nice.

Well, at least it wasn’t a picture of a Virtual Boy or an Atari 2600 or something.

  • So I open up my IE7 window and I’m greeted with this image from msn.com

The first thing I noticed was that the imitation big pixels that make up Ms Pacman aren’t uniform sizes!  That big black pixel below her mouth is wider than the pixels making up the left-most column of pixels.  It’s also wider than the blue and red checker pattern ones making up her bow.  The whole thing seems like its out of proportion to me.

Just thought everyone should know how weird I am =P

  • Due to some various tags, I shall be posting what my desktop looks like while working at the office of Xanga.

So I have all my little Xanga code over there on the left monitor along with Winamp docked at the top and over on the right, a Firefox and IE window for my own personal testing.  Also squeezed a buddy list in there on the right.

I suffer from a disease where I never close any of my windows, so there are folders open that I probably haven’t touched in days.  That disease also carries over to the tabs in Firefox.  I’m just glad I have big enough monitors to handle my problem =)

  • The light is broken at an intersection by my apartment, so one way always stays green while the other always red.  Do you know what that means?  A whole bunch of confused pedestrians, drivers and a lot of horn honking.

Theres a horn… and another.  Man, I hope they fix that soon.

  • Did you know the proper way is Daylight Saving Time without the s?  I didn’t know that.  It just feels weird to say.

Speaking of which, it just jumped from 2 AM to 3 AM on all my stuff a couple minutes ago.

  • Randomize

Winamp seems to have the worst shuffle ever.  Everyday I hear repeats of songs from the previous day.  Is Winamp really being a pain or is it just a matter of probability?

    Lets go over the math.

I listen to about 4 hours of music a day.  Assuming 3 minutes per song, that would be 80 songs a day.  Let say I also skip about 20 songs a day.  This makes my total 100 songs a day that I will see in Winamp.

I have 3000 songs in my library.  If I play a song at random, there is a 3% chance that song would have played the previous day.  But if I play 100 songs, each of which having a 3% chance of being a song from the previous day, that means that each day, I should hear about 3 songs that played the previous day.

Stupid probability messing up my music experience.

  • I’ve been listening to random NES game soundtracks.  So far my favorites are Castlevania, Blaster Master, Mega Man 2, Contra, Metal Gear and a little TMNT.  They are all actually ripped from the NES roms into the Nintendo music format (.nsf) and I play them through a NES music plug-in for Winamp.  Exciting eh?

For some reason I just love the sound of this old school music.  It’s so simple, but some of the music can be really memorable.  I suppose the only games these days that could have memorable music would be RPGs, so Final Fantasy and stuff like that.

I need new video game music to listen to…

  • I have a problem with closing my windows.

    Edit:
Each of those Firefox windows actually do have tabs, so I am making use of tabbed browsing.  That makes this overall problem slightly worse.
