  • Check out some Xanga code!

Ok ok, I’ll show you some important Xanga code. Since I programmed it, I’m of course free to show everyone on the internet the code, yes? ;)

  • I Saw My Book!

I was at a Borders in NYC over the weekend and discovered my newly released book on the shelves!

It’s that orange one almost right in the middle of that picture.

The release date has been misquoted in several places, so I had no idea when the book was actually going to be hitting the shelves, so it was extra surprising to see it sitting there!  It even is facing cover forward and not sideways, which is even cooler.

It’s been such a long process getting that book published, so it’s definitely weird to see it sitting there just like all the other books.  I stood there for about 20 minutes just kinda staring at it and taking pictures =P

The book is a bunch of the best cartoons from the first 2 years of lefthandedtoons.com, the webcomic my friend and I run.  We also have a Xanga page for it, so go over and sub us if you like! lefthandedtoons on Xanga

UPDATE!  We are now selling autographed copies on lefthandedtoons.com, so pick one up if you like!

  • Bury Your Dead

I’m totally obsessed with the first 50 seconds of Dust to Dust by Bury Your Dead.  I’ve always loved really heavy rhythm guitar stuff.  Here’s a link to the song.

I’m actually gonna end up seeing them in a couple days.  They are opening up for Static-X, and I never miss a Static-X show =P

  • So I Saw Transformers 2

It was pretty bad.  A good chunk of the beginning of the movie was totally pointless.  The very beginning was also really really weird too.  It looked more like a trailer for the movie instead of the movie itself.  They probably could have cut out a good 30 minutes and not affected the movie as a whole.  Also, now that I think of it, they should rename the movie to Transformers: Watch How Random Crap Transforms because there was a whole lot that going on.  If you ever wondered what a vaccuum cleaner would transform into, you should watch this movie.  Same holds true for a garbage disposal and just a bunch of other crap.

Transformers 2 also has added some of the worst supporting characters since Jar Jar Binks.  They add in Sam’s roommate, who is just incredibly annoying and also these two new autobots that are just totally ridiculous.

In addition to the movie, I also had a little bit of a problem with the woman sitting behind me.  At one point, she kicked my seat really really hard twice, so I had to turn around and ask her what her problem was.  She gave me this strange look, so I thanked her for kicking my seat and continued watching the movie.  She also kept putting her bare feet on my seat and was stepping on my hair.  I have short hair too, so it’s kinda difficult to do that.  I didn’t know that she was shoeless until the people I was with told me afterwards.

She left the movie during the last 30 seconds or so, which I assume was to avoid a confrontation with me.  Not like I was gonna stab her or anything.  If I was to say anything at all, I would have simply stated how displeased I was with her putting her feet on the back of my seat =)

So overall, I hate some moviegoers and Transformers 2 was a 9/10 on the explosion scale.

  • Billy Mays is dead and I’m sad

I met the guy 2 weeks ago at a BBQ festival that OxyClean was sponsoring.  He was a really cool guy.  My girlfriend and I even got a great picture with him.

After meeting him, I honestly felt like I knew him.  He was happily chatting with people and signing autographs and taking pictures with everyone.

I also totally love Pitchmen.  Watching Billy and Sully bicker and mess with each other was hilarious.

Really sad to see him go.

  • Webcomic Convention

I’m gonna be attending a webcomic convention for Left-Handed Toons at the end of July.  We’re gonna have a table there and I’m sure it’s gonna be awesome.  Only problem is, I really have no idea what to expect.

We are gonna be selling some t-shirts and copies of our new book, which will be pretty fun.  But because we’ve never done this before, we don’t have a clue how many could sell.  To play it safe, we are getting a lot of t-shirts and books ready, so most likely we will have some extras.  But even if our over estimates are off and we don’t have enough merchandise, then I will be making this face: =(

It will be a lot of fun to talk to fans and chat with other webcomicers that are attending.  Heck, maybe we could even make some cool guest strips on the spot for each others comics.

Have any of you guys ever gone to a webcomic convention?  What did you end up doing there?
